CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M University head softball coach Kevin Blaskowski has announced the signing of Meghan Slattery to a national letter-of-intent to attend WTAMU and play for the Lady Buffs during the 2009-10 academic year.

Slattery joins Brooke Webster and Kimberlee Rychlik as members of the 2009 signing class. Brooke Webster and Kimberlee Rychlik signed letters-of-intent earlier this year.

Slattery attended Houston (Texas) Memorial High School, where she was a standout outfielder/utility player. Prior to her 2009 senior season, she was tabbed as a Houston Chronicle Select Top-Five to Watch. As a junior in 2008 she earned all-District 19-5A first-team honors, all-Greater Houston third team and was named as Memorial High's Offensive Player of the Year. Following her 2007 sophomore campaign, Slattery earned District 19-5A first-team honors as a utility player, as well as being named as Memorial High's Offensive Player of the Year. She was selected as the team Most Valuable player, as well as District 18-5A MVP following her 2006 freshman season.

Slattery also played for the Katy Heat, where she was teammates with current Lady Buff players Meghan Brown and Kasey Henderson.

"Meghan is a very talented student-athlete who will not only excel for us on the softball field, but also in the classroom," said WT head coach Kevin Blaskowski. "She will be a very welcomed addition to our outfield crops. I expect a lot of great things from her over the next four years."
