CANYON, Texas - On the same day in which four Lady Buffs were honored for their work on the field, three members of the West Texas A&M softball team have garnered recognition from the Lone Star Conference for their achievements in the classroom. Junior Erin Hartigan was named to the LSC South Division All-Academic team, while junior Breanna Adams and sophomore Amber Farr were selected to the LSC South Commissioner's Honor Roll.

Hartigan, a broadcasting major from Omaha, Neb., and Adams, a marketing major from Corona, Calif., represent the only two Lady Buffs to be a part of the program since it was reinstated prior to the 2006 season. Farr is in her second season in Canyon after a standout prep career in Collinsville, Texas, and is majoring in sports and exercise science.

To be eligible for LSC academic honors, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.20 grade point average and have reached sophomore status both athletically and academically. The Academic Player of Year award and All-Academic Team are selected from the list of academically qualified players, with the league's sports information directors voting on the basis of both academic and athletic achievement. All qualifying student-athletes not selected for the All-Academic Team are then named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

In all, 47 softball players were distinguished through the league's academic awards program, including at least one from all 14 softball-playing member institutions.
