Lady Buffs Ranked Eighth in Latest Regional Poll

CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M softball team is ranked eighth in this week's NCAA South Central Region poll, as released by the NCAA Wednesday. The Lady Buffs have been represented among the top-10 teams in the region in each regional poll released thus far in the 2009 season. Six of the top 10 ranked teams in the region are Lone Star Conference-member institutions, with Southeastern Oklahoma State Angelo State heading the list, followed by Angelo State (No. 2), Abilene Christian (No. 3), Midwestern State (No. 6), West Texas A&M (No. 8) and Cameron (No. 10). MIAA-members Nebraska-Omaha (No. 4), Central Missouri (No. 5), Missouri Western (No. 7) and Emporia State (No. 9) break up the LSC stronghold.

The Lady Buffs compete in the LSC Opening Round Tournament this weekend. #3-seed WT will face #2-seed Central Oklahoma, Friday, April 24 at 4 p.m. CDT, at Polly Wells Field in Abilene, Texas.
