CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M softball team is ranked eighth in this week's NCAA South Central Region poll, as released by the NCAA Wednesday. The Lady Buffs have been represented among the top-10 teams in the region in each regional poll released thus far in the 2009 season.

Six of the top 10 ranked teams in the region are Lone Star Conference-member institutions, with Southeastern Oklahoma State Angelo State heading the list, followed by Angelo State (No. 2), Abilene Christian (No. 3), Midwestern State (No. 6), West Texas A&M (No. 8) and Cameron (No. 10). MIAA-members Nebraska-Omaha (No. 4), Central Missouri (No. 5), Missouri Western (No. 7) and Emporia State (No. 9) break up the LSC stronghold.
