CANYON, Texas - Taking a break from the grind of Lone Star Conference South Division play, the West Texas A&M softball team will host Oklahoma Panhandle State in a non-conference doubleheader at Lady Buff Yard on Wednesday. The twin bill is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch and will be Faculty Appreciation Day sponsored by Zip's Car Wash.

The Lady Buffs are hoping to reverse a trend which has seen them drop seven of their last eight contests after the young team had an impressive showing at the 2008 LSC Crossover Tournament. WT has already faced Wednesday's opponent twice this season, earning a sweep over OPSU in Goodwill, Okla., on March 25 by outscoring the Aggies 15-2.

Panhandle State, however, has been playing well as of late, winning three of their last four games to enter the series with an 8-37 record.

With 20 victories already this season, WT has already surpassed their season win total for each of the last two seasons since the program was reinstated prior to the 2006 season. Head coach Kevin Blaskowski also stands on the edge of a milestone as he sits just two victories away from 400 for his career, entering the series with a 398-387 mark in 16 seasons as a collegiate head coach.
