2009: Cockrell carried an impressive 2.92 earned run average and posted a9-6 won-loss record while striking out 92 opponents in 23 appearances during her first season as a Lady Buff. She started in 10 games, turning in eight complete games. Cockrell collected her first collegiate win in her first start on February 7th against Texas-Permian Basin. In four innings, she recorded six strike outs, yielding no earned runs in the 13-1 victory. She picked up the first save of her collegiate careeron March 17th against Fort Hays State. Cockrell came into the circlein relief and halted the late seventh inning rally by the Tigers. She turned in her best pitching performance of the season on February 13th against Texas-Permian Basin, yielding no earned runs, while striking out a season-highten in the 10-0 victory. High School: Cockrell attended Pearland, Texas, HS where she enjoyed an outstanding prep pitching career. During her senior campaign, she was named first team all-district and helped lead her team to a district championship, tallying 166 strikeouts. In 2007, she was named junior varsity MVP. Cockrell also played volleyball while at Pearland HS. Personal: Cockrell is the daughter of Brian and Donna Cockrell. She has two brothers, Justin and Tyler. She is majoring in Animal Science at WTAMU. |
