Senior Sarit Shenar named third team all-American Friday

CANYON, Texas - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced its all-American team on Friday. West Texas A&M senior forward Sarit Shenar was named third team, and was only one of two athletes from the Lone Star Conference selected all-America.

Shenar, who helped lead the Lady Buffs into the NCAA Tournament, scored 22 goals this season, while tallying a career-high 16 assists. The Rehovot, Israel, native has already been named LSC Offensive and Academic Player of the Year and first team All-Midwest Region by sports information directors and coaches, while taking home ESPN The Magazine All-District VI First Team accolades.

Shenar, who finished her collegiate career in November, scored 72 goals, gave 33 assists and scored 179 points, all ranking No. 1 in the school record book.

This is the second time Shenar has been named all-American, she was also selected NSCAA first team in 2004, after scoring 24 goals. She is also the first soccer athlete in WTAMU history to be selected all-America twice.
