ON THE ROAD- The Lady Buffs will now face off with St. Edward’s at 6:30 p.m. CST on Friday, Nov. 20 in San Diego, California. In the other half of the bracket, host UC-San Diego will match up with Cal State-Dominguez Hills at 9:00 p.m. CST. The winners of each match will meet on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2:00 p.m. CST for a spot in the Final Four.

THE RECORDS- The No. 13 Lady Buffs entered post-season with a 14-2-3 season record and a 7-2-1 conference record. They now advance to the Sweet 16 after defeating Truman State in the South Central Region Quarterfinals.

THE MATCHUP- West Texas A&M and St. Edward's faced off once earlier this season, with the Lady Buffs taking the 1-0 decision on Sept. 11 at The Pitch in Canyon, Texas.

LAST WEEK- This week West Texas A&M was bestowed the honor of hosting the NCAA South Central Region Women’s Soccer Tournament at the Pitch. The first game between the University of Nebraska-Omaha and Truman State University on Friday resulted in a win for TSU and advancement to the second round against the Lady Buffs who had a bye for the first round. The Lady Buffs defeated TSU 1-0 on Sunday afternoon and will go on into the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championships.

FINAL RANKINGS- West Texas A&M ended the season as No. 13 in the nation and No. 2 in the South Central Region under Incarnate Word according to the NCAA Division II Final Regular Season Poll taken on November 10, 2009.

SHUTOUTS- The Lady Buffs recorded 12 shutouts for the regular season, one short of the record of 13 set in 2001. This week they continued their shutout streak as they topped Truman State University 1-0 on Sunday.

HEWSON TOPS TSU- Becky Hewson (SO, Cambridge, England) scored the lone goal against Truman State University on Sunday off of an assist from Lindsay McHorse (SO, Georgetown, Texas). This season, Hewson scored eight goals for the Lady Buffs, totaled 36 shots and 20 shots on goal, and had a shot on goal percent of .556.


 

 

MCHORSE MIDFIELDING- Lindsay McHorse led the Lady Buffs this season with 12 goals and seven assists. She took 36 shots with 20 shots on goal gaining a percentage of .333 in shots and .556 shots on goal. On Sunday, McHorse added one more assist to her record with the single assist in the WTAMU v. TSU game.

SKEHAN ON GOAL- Kelly Skehan (JR, Klein, Texas) proved to be a force in goal this season with a record of 11-2-3. Skehan tallied 62 saves and held a save percentage of .912. This week, Skehan grabbed three saves and allowed no goals in the match against TSU.

DOMINGUEZ DOMINATES- Miriam Dominguez (SR, El Paso, Texas) made her last season with the Lady Buffs count as she scored six goals and registered seven assists. Dominguez had a shot on goal percentage of .595 with 37 shots and 22 shots on goal. Against Truman State, Dominguez took one shot and one shot on goal.

KVIZ KICKS- Morgan Kviz (SO, Keller, Texas) had one shot and one shot on goal in the match against Truman State. Over the course of the season, Kviz scored two goals in her 13 shots and six shots on goal.

HOLLIS’ BALL-HANDLING- In the midfield, Heather Hollis (SO, Keller, Texas) shot once and also had one shot on goal on Sunday. Hollis tallied three shots and three shots on goal this season.
