Five Lady Buffs Earn All-Conference Honors

The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team had five members earn All-Conference honors announced today by the Lone Star Conference office.
The Lady Buffs had a league-high four players named to the first-team while also placing one player on the second-team. Earning first-team honors were senior midfielder Ashleigh Scott, junior goalkeeper Jamie Griffis, senior defender Chrissy Arndt and freshman forward Sarit Shenar.
Sophomore forward Whitney Cates was the lone WTAMU representative on the second-team. Griffis and Arndt were also named to the All-Tournament team this past weekend, while Shenar was voted Tournament MVP.
LSC runner-up Texas A&M University-Commerce earned three first-team and two second-team picks. In addition to those honors, sophomore forward Erin de Wolfe was named Offensive Player of the Year, freshman forward Tiffany Adams was named Freshman of the Year, while TAMU-Commerce's Neil Piper was named Coach of the Year.
University of Central Oklahoma junior defender Stephanie Gulisao was named Defensive Player of the Year. In addition to Gulisao, Central Oklahoma earned three other spots (one first-team, two second-team) on the All-Conference team.
WTAMU ended the regular season with a record of 14-3-2 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play. In post season action, the Lady Buffs went undefeated and unscored upon in all three tournament games. With the sweep, WTAMU gained top honors recording it third-straight LSC championship.
The Lady Buffs, who moved up to No. 15 in this week's NSCAA/adidas Top 25 Poll, begin their quest for the NCAA-II title on Friday, Nov. 14, in the first round of the Midwest Regional Tournament, hosted by top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Metro State College at Denver, Colo. WTAMU is seeded third and will take on second-seeded No. 20 TAMU-Commerce in a rematch of the LSC Tournament Final.
