Scott Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

West Texas A&M University women's soccer team member Ashleigh Scott received First-Team CoSIDA Academic All-Distrist VI Honors released today (Nov. 6).
Scott, a senior midfielder from Flower Mound, Texas, has a 3.78 GPA and is a double major in biology and biochemistry. She is a three-time WTAMU scholar-athlete, and has been named to the Dean's List twice and the President's List twice. Scott was named to the LSC Commissioners Academic Honor Roll in 2001 and received All-LSC Academic Team honors in 2002.
On the field, Scott has three goals and two assists, for eight points this season, in helping the Lady Buffs to an 11-3-2 overall record. For her career, Scott has tallied 17 goals, and seven assists, for a total of 39 points.
Student-athletes must meet four criteria to earn Academic All-District honors: 1) must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better, 2) must have at least two terms of attendance at the institution, 3) must be at least a sophomore in athletic eligibility, 4) must be a starter or key reserve in their respective sport. The All-District selection is determined by voting of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). District VI is comprised of NCAA Division II and Division III and NAIA institutions from the states of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana.
WTAMU has an eight-game unbeaten streak, having recorded six-straight shutouts and is ranked No. 25 in the NSCAA/adidas Top 25 Poll and No. 3 in the NCAA-II Midwest Region Rankings. The Lady Buffs are the No. 3 seed at this weekend's Lone Star Conference Tournament on the campus of Midwestern State University at Wichita Falls, Texas.
