West Texas A&M University women's soccer team member Jamie Griffis was named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the LSC office announced today (Nov. 5), the second time in three weeks and the third time of the season that Griffis has received such accolades.

Griffis, a 5-5 junior goalkeeper from Plano, Texas, recorded her eighth shutout of the season and sixth-straight, in WTAMU's 2-0 upset over No. 14 Central Oklahoma Friday.

Griffis has led the Lady Buffs to a four-match win-streak and an eight-match unbeaten streak, having only given up two goals in that stretch, as WTAMU has outscored its opposition, 26-2.

She record eight saves against Central Oklahoma.

Griffis extends her LSC career-record to 33 shutouts, as she is also the LSC record holder for single-season shutouts and career goals against average.

She is a graduate of Plano High School.

The Lady Buffs are ranked No. 25 in the recent NSCAA/adidas Top 25 Poll and No. 3 in the recent NCAA-II Midwest Region Rankings, released today (Nov. 5). WTAMU is also the No. 3 seed in the LSC Tournament and open action Friday against sixth-seeded Angelo State University at 5 p.m. on the campus of Midwestern State University at Wichita Falls, Texas.
