West Texas A&M University women's soccer team member Sarit Shenar was named Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the LSC office announced today (Oct. 28).

Shenar, a 5-5 freshman midfielder from Rehovot, Israel, made a smashing return to the Lady Buffs, after returning to play in a European Championship match for the Israeli National Team, in which she assisted on Israel's lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Belarus.

Shenar netted two goals and added an assist in each of WTAMU's two matches, playing a part in the first three goals of each match, as the Lady Buffs won their third-straight and ran their unbeaten streak to six-straight matches. In the last four matches that Shenar has played (two before and two after her absence), WTAMU has outscored its opponents 21-1. In the two matches she was gone, the Lady Buffs fought to a scoreless draw with Angelo State and defeated Midwestern State, 2-0.

Against East Central Friday, she had the assist on WTAMU's first goal of the match, then scored both her goals a minute and a half apart, shaking the net at the 30:15 mark and again at the 31:48 mark.

In Sunday's win over Northeastern State, Shenar struck in the 25th minute, staking the Lady Buffs to a 1-0 lead, and they erupted for five second-half goals, the first by Shenar in the 53rd minute and she assisted on WTAMU's third goal.

She now has six two-goal matches, including three of her last four matches.

Shenar, who served in the Israeli Army prior to coming to WTAMU, leads the team with 14 goals in 10 games played, adding four assists for 32 points.

The Lady Buffs wrap up the regular season on Friday night when they take on defending Lone Star Conference Tournament champions, No. 18 Central Oklahoma at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m.

In the most recent NSCAA-II Regional poll released Monday, Central Oklahoma is in a three-way tie for second place while WTAMU is in a two-way tie for fifth.
