WTAMU Women's Soccer Honored With Five LSC Post Season Awards
Oct. 26, 2006 EDMOND, Okla. - The Lone Star Conference announced all-conference awards on Thursday night, the list includes Offensive Player of the Year and Academic Player of Year senior Sarit Shenar (Rehovot, Israel) for her efforts on the field and in the classroom. Joining Shenar was freshman Adi Stein (Desher, Israel), who was honored as co-Freshman of the Year and first team All-LSC. Fellow freshman Kayla Sisco (Amarillo, Texas) was also named All-LSC First Team. The lone Lady Buff named second team All-LSC was sophomore Samantha Calcote (Amarillo, Texas), who had had five goals in conference play. Fellow classmate Elisabeth Markussen (Borkup, Denmark) was named honorable mention All-LSC despite scoring 12 goals this season, which was second only behind Shenar. Earlier this week sophomore's Sally deJongh (Amarillo, Texas) and Jessica Hartley (Amarillo, Texas) were honored as LSC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for their efforts in the classroom. "I think it's well deserved for Sarit, Kayla and Adi, who all played well this season," said head coach Butch Lauffer. "It's great for Sam, who took herself out of soccer last season, but I think Elisabeth deserves more." WTAMU will be on the field tomorrow at 1 p.m. against Texas A&M-Commerce in the second round of the LSC Tournament.
