CANYON, Texas - With the second seed and a first round bye in the Lone Star Conference Tournament, the 14-2-1 and No. 25 West Texas A&M women's soccer team is gearing up for another post season run.

WTAMU is going into the conference tournament on a three match winning streak, with opponents failing to score on them in three consecutive contests. The Lady Buffs have outscored their last three opponents 13-0, which includes a 7-0 win over Southwestern Oklahoma, a 1-0 victory against Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday and a 5-0 blanking of Texas Woman's Sunday.

The offensive charge is being led by sophomore's Elisabeth Markussen (Borkup, Denmark) and Samantha Calcote (Amarillo, Texas), who have combined to score seven goals. Senior Sarit Shenar (Rehovot, Israel) has passed the ball off seven times; with one of the assists coming near the end of regulation against Commerce. Shenar dished the ball off to sophomore Megan Szydloski (Amarillo, Texas) for the game-winner in the 85th minute to help the Lady Buffs secure a spot in the conference tournament.

The goalkeepers for WTAMU have also played well; freshman Lisha Jungmann (San Antonio, Texas) and sophomore Sarah Pipkin (San Angelo, Texas) have made 15 saves in 250 minutes of action. The defense has also had a hold on the opponent's offense during the streak, holding foes to 0-35 on shot attempts and 11.7 shots a game.

WTAMU will play the winner of Texas A&M-Commerce and Eastern New Mexico on Friday at noon in Edmond, Okla.
