West Texas A&M University women's soccer team member Jamie Griffis was named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the LSC office announced.

Griffis, a 5-5 junior goalkeeper from Plano, Texas, recorded her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season in WTAMU's 0-0 tie with Angelo State Friday and the Lady Buffs' 2-0 win over Midwestern State on Sunday. This is the second time this season that Griffis has received conference kudos.

Griffis recorded a combined total of 10 saves (three vs. ASU, seven vs. MSU), to extend her LSC career-record to 30 shutouts. She also holds the LSC record for single season shutouts and career goals against average.

She is a graduate of Plano High School.

The Lady Buffs are 8-3-2 overall, 3-1-2 in LSC entering this weekend's action, as WTAMU travels to East Central on Friday, then to Northeastern State on Sunday.

WTAMU is ranked eighth in the NSCAA Midwest Region Rankings, released Monday.
