Lady Buffs' On Road for Pair of Conference Contests

The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team travels to Oklahoma for their last two games on the road in the regular season. The Lady Buffs (8-3-2 overall, 3-1-2 in LSC) are coming off a two-game homestand over the weekend, where they played Angelo State to a 0-0 tie on Friday and then defeated Midwestern State 2-0 on Sunday.
The Lady Buffs are ranked eighth in the NSCAA Midwest Region Rankings, released Monday.
WTAMU will have their top scorer back this weekend, freshman forward Sarit Shenar has missed the last two games as she has been playing in the European Championships for Israel. Shenar leads the Lady Buffs with 10 goals and two assists (22 points). The women will welcome their scoring sensation back as in Sarit's absence the Lady Buffs have only scored two goals.
Sophomore forwards Whitney Cates and Katie Henley have both picked up their game as Cates scored her sixth goal off Henley's assist on Sunday against Midwestern.
WTAMU's first opponent of the upcoming weekend is East Central University (5-8-1 overall and 2-3-0 in the LSC) on Friday, October 24th at 1 p.m. The Tigers are coming off a 2-1 win against Texas Woman's on Sunday.
ECU has a couple of players leading the team into this game against the Lady Buffs, freshman forward LaShay Morris is the points leader with three goals and four assists (10 points). Teammate, sophomore Jessie Shertzer has four goals (eight points) on 16 shots.
The Tigers' junior goalkeepers Megan Wilson and Melissa Carter have allowed a combined 33 goals against, 2.29 goals against average and 129 saves so far this season.
The Lady Buffs are 7-1-0 against the Tigers all-time, but have had trouble in the last couple of year playing at Lady Tiger Field.
The Lady Buffs will then travel to Tahlequah, Oklahoma to play at Northeastern State (10-3-0 overall, 3-2-1 in LSC action) on Sunday, October 26th at 1 p.m., who are coming off a 6-1 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce on Sunday.
Against Northeastern State, the Lady Buffs are 5-2-0 in all-time competition and played NSU twice last year, in regular season play and the first round LSC tournament action, and won both times. WTAMU has allowed NSU to score eight goals while scoring 15 goals on the Lady Reds.
This will be the Lady Buffs' final regular season match on the road before coming home to play their last game of the regular season against Central Oklahoma on October 31 at 7 p.m. at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.
