Lady Buffs Host Final Home Matches Of Season

The West Texas A&M University Lady Buff soccer team will play on Friday October 21 at 3 p.m. against Southwestern Oklahoma State and then again on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Central Oklahoma. The Lady Buffs' three seniors: midfielders Misti Northcutt and Roxy Sides, along with forward Katie Henley will be honored in a pre-match ceremony.

The Lady Buffs traveled to Oklahoma last weekend and were victorious in both matches last weekend. The first match was against Northeastern State University on Friday, in which the Lady Buffs defeated the Lady Reds, 1-0. The lone goal came from Henley. The goal came early in the first half and the Lady Buffs were able to hold on for the 1-0 victory. In the second game of the road trip, WTAMU defeated East Central, 4-0, Sunday. The Lady Buffs got goals from four different players, as senior midfielder Roxy Sides opened the scoring in the ninth minute. WTAMU was able to get two more goals before halftime, one coming from freshmen midfielder Elisabeth Markussen and the other coming from junior Whitney McClain. Katie Henley added her second goal in two games late in the second half to give the Lady Buffs their four goals.

WTAMU is ranked No. 4 in the first NCAA-II Midwest Regional Rankings, which determine the Regional Tournament field.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University comes to town with a 7-7-0 record and a 2-3-0 conference record. The Lady Savages played twice and went 1-1. SWOSU lost to Texas A&M University- Commerce, 4-0, and then came back to defeat Texas Women's University, 2-0. So far on the season, SWOSU is led by sophomore midfielder Carrie Dumbauld who has five goals on the season for 10 points. Leading the defense for the Lady Savages has been sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Crook who has 67 saves on the season with a save percentage of .788.

Central Oklahoma brings a 10-3-1 record and a conference record of 4-0-1 into the weekend, as the Lady Bronchos will face Eastern New Mexico University on Friday. UCU is currently in second-place in the LSC standings, trailing WTAMU. The Lady Bronchos are coming off a undefeated weekend in which they defeated Texas Women's 4-0 and tied Texas A&M-Commerce, 2-2. On the season the Lady Bronchos have been led by junior midfielder Lindsey Hull who has tallied five goals and four assists on the season which gives her a total of 14 points. Also helping out on offense has been junior forward Melissa Terry who has four goals and three assists on the season giving her 11 points on the season.

The Lady Buffs hit the road next weekend to wrap up their regular season against Texas Women's on Friday and Sunday against Texas A&M- Commerce.
