Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Anderson of the West Texas A&M University Lady Buff soccer team was named Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week, announced today (Oct. 18) by the conference office, for her role in WTAMU's two matches last week.

Anderson, a 5-8 sophomore from Evergreen, Colo., posted a pair of shutouts last week in the Lady Buffs 1-0 win over Northeastern State University on Friday and 4-0 rout of East Central University on Sunday. She made a total of seven saves in the two matches, and now has five shutouts this season and 6.5 blankings in her career.

The pair of victories were WTAMU's fourth win in a row and sixth in the last seven matches, as the Lady Buffs improve to 8-3-1 overall and 5-0 in Lone Star Conference action, taking over sole possession of first-place in the conference, with four matches remaining.

WTAMU returns home for the final time on Oct. 21 and 23 against Southwestern Oklahoma State University and second-place University of Central Oklahoma, respectively.
