West Texas A&M Women's Soccer to Host Two Conference Matches

CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M women's soccer team continues conference play as they host Southwestern Oklahoma on Friday at 1 p.m. and Central Oklahoma on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the squad's last home games of the season. The Lady Buffs enter the weekend with an overall record of 9-3 and a 3-2 mark in the Lone Star Conference. The women round out their season on the road at Texas Woman's on Oct. 19, Texas A&M-Commerce on Oct. 21 and Midwestern State on Oct. 26 before the LSC Tournament begins on Nov. 1. Last weekend saw the Lady Buffs go 1-1 as they lost in overtime to East Central, 3-2, but bounced back on Sunday to beat Northeastern State, 4-3, in double overtime. Junior Elisabeth Markussen and sophomores Kendal Kitchens and Kayla Sisco combined to score WTAMU's six goals - two apiece throughout both matches - while sophomore Brianna McMillian tallied three assists and sophomore Adi Stein had two. In goal, sophomore Lisha Jungmann made eight saves (.571) and allowed six goals (2.58) in 208:54 minutes of play. Markussen now leads the squad in goals, with 11, while Kitchens has six and Sisco has five. Kitchens also has three assists on the season. Sophomore Miriam Dominguez has dished out seven assists and tallied three goals while McMillian and Stein each have notched five assists and one goal.
