The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team is back home to join in the Homecoming festivities this Friday, October 10, at 1 p.m. , hosting the Oklahoma City University Stars (5-5-2) at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium in a non-conference game.

The Lady Buffs (5-3-1 overall, 1-1-1 in LSC) have not played at Kimbrough since their 3-0 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma on September 19 in their Lone Star Conference-opener.

OCU is 5-5-2 on the year, entering Thursday's game at Wayland Baptist University.

WTAMU is coming off two-game LSC road trip last weekend against Texas A&M University-Commerce and Texas Woman's University, in which the Lady Buffs lost to TAMU-Commerce, 3-2, and tied Texas Woman's, 1-1.

The Lady Buffs played the Stars last year and lost 1-0, in the first meeting between the teams.

The Stars finished 17-4-2 last year, but lost four of their top five players. OCU's newcomers have produced well this season with 5-6 freshman midfielder Whitney Ward leading the team with six goals. Senior 5-7 midfielder Melinda Keirsey is second on the team with five goals.

For the Lady Buffs, freshman Sarit Shenar (5-5, forward) leads the team with eight goals and one assist. Sophomore Whitney Cates (5-4, forward) has four goals and two assists and is also doing well for the Lady Buffs so far this season.

Junior defender Ashley Mosley suffered a season-ending knee injury on their three-game roadtrip to Colorado causing the Lady Buffs to regroup and try to find a replacement in the defense. Since Mosley's injury the Lady Buffs are 1-2-1 and have allowed six goals.

Prior to Mosley's injury, the Lady Buffs lost junior back-up goalie Shannon Hoar to a broken finger.

The Lady Buffs hit the road again, Sunday, October 13, at 3:00 p.m. against Eastern New Mexico (2-5-0 overall, 1-1 in LSC) at Portales, N.M., before settling home for two games on Oct. 17 vs. Angelo State at 3 p.m. and Oct. 19, hosting Midwestern State at 2 p.m.
