Lady Buffs Return to Action Wednesday at ENMU

The West Texas A&M University Lady Buff soccer team travel to Portales, N.M. to face Eastern New Mexico University in the Lady Buffs' Lone Star Conference opener on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005. The Lady Buffs should be well rested for their conference opener, which will be their first match since their 1-0 defeat of St. Mary's University on Sept. 9.
The Lady Buffs bring a 2-2-1 record into Wednesday's contest. So far this season, WTAMU has been led by junior forward Sarit Shenar who has tallied four goals on the season and one assist giving her a nine points on the year. Freshmen midfielder Elisabeth Markussen is the other Lady Buff that has scored, tallying two goals and one assist giving her five points so far this season.
The Zias of Eastern New Mexico are 5-3 on the season this far with two consecutive wins, including a overtime win on Saturday over St. Gregory's (Okla.), 2-1. The Zias are led this season by junior midfielder Anna Funck, who is a native of Amarillo. Funck has tallied three goals and three assists, while junior forward Megan Dozier has two goals and two assists on the season.
This match will be the first of a five-match road trip for the Lady Buffs who will continue their action on Saturday Sept. 24 at St. Edward's University in Austin and then move on to play the University of Incarnate Word on Monday, Sept. 26.
WTAMU heads to Colorado next weekend to face Regis College on Friday, Sept. 30 at Denver, Colo. The Lady Buffs wrap up the road swing on Sunday, Oct. 1 against Colorado State University-Pueblo at Pueblo, Colo.
The Lady Buffs return to the friendly confines of Kimbrough Memorial Stadium on Oct. 7 to host Midwestern State University.
