West Texas A&M Women's Soccer Sign Two to Letters-of-Intent

CANYON, Texas - West Texas A&M women’s soccer coach, Butch Lauffer, has announced the signing of two student-athletes to letters-of-intent to attend WTAMU in the fall of 2009 and participate in women’s soccer. The duo includes Samantha of Amarillo (Texas) High School and Korey Schroeder of Victoria (Texas) Memorial High School. Both girls competed on club teams and earned various awards and recognitions through their high school teams. “We are very excited about these two young ladies joining our soccer program,” said WT head soccer coach Butch Lauffer. “We feel that both will contribute immediately and help our women’s soccer team continue to be successful. “It’s always exciting when we get a local girl,” Lauffer said. “We think Sam is the best female player coming out of Amarillo this year. Korey is a very good goalkeeper. She made 275 saves in her high school season last year.” Samantha Cameron 5-2, Forward Amarillo, Texas (High) - Cameron was named to the 2008 all-State team and was named the 2008 District Offensive Player of the Year, scoring 22 goals. She competed with the Amarillo Lightening Soccer Club and the Lake Highlands Girls Classic league. Cameron is the daughter of Ladonna Cameron. Korey Schroeder 5-6, Goalkeeper Victoria, Texas (Victoria Memorial) In 2008, Schroeder was selected to the all-district first team and was her team’s defensive most valuable player as well as her team’s captain at Victoria Memorial HS. She competed with the Texas Nike Rush Soccer Club and is the daughter of Richard and Carla Innocenci.
