Shenar Named Second Team Academic All-American
Jan. 5, 2007 CANYON, Texas - The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and ESPN The Magazine have announced their women's Academic All-American soccer team, and West Texas A&M senior forward Sarit Shenar was selected second team All-America. Shenar, who earned a 3.743 GPA, also scored 22 goals and tallied 16 assists, helping lead the Lady Buffs into the NCAA Tournament. The Rehovot, Israel, native is also the only athlete for the Lone Star Conference to receive Academic All-American honors. In 2006, Shenar was named LSC Offensive and Academic Athlete of the Year, CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI First Team, NSCAA All-Midwest Region and third team All-American accolades. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Shenar joins former WTAMU standout Julie Saylor, as the only Academic All-Americans from the Lady Buff soccer team.
