Lady Buffs fall in overtime to Metro State 3-2

DENVER, Colo. - A goal to the high 90 by Metro State in overtime was the fate of the West Texas A&M women's soccer team in the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament on Friday afternoon; as the Roadrunners defeated the Lady Buffs 3-2. Metro State jumped on top first at 14:45, but a goal by Elisabeth Markussen (Borkup, Denmark) in the 34th minute sent the match into the locker room knotted at one. At the break, the Roadrunners had 13 shots, while WTAMU freshman goalkeeper Lisha Jungmann (San Antonio, Texas) made four saves. In the second half, senior Sarit Shenar (Rehovot, Israel) gave the Lady Buffs a lead for almost 20 minutes, but Metro State's Katie Kilbey sent the contest into overtime with a goal at 85:02. With the first overtime coming to a close, Metro State's Justine Montoya gave the Roadrunners the win at 98:38. With the loss WTAMU ended its season 14-4-1, while Metro State improves to 20-2-0, and will move to play Central Oklahoma or St. Edward's in the second round.
