EDMOND, Okla. - The West Texas A&M women's soccer team, seeded sixth in the Lone Star Conference, beat the second-seeded Midwestern State Mustangs, 1-0, in the LSC Tournament semi-finals on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Kendal Kitchens scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 43rd minute to help the Lady Buffs advance to the Tournament final.

Kitchens' goal, her seventh of the season, came just before the end of the first half. Sophomore Adi Stein took a shot that Kitchens deflected past MSU goalkeeper Heather Primavera, giving the Lady Buffs a one goal advantage.

Both teams pressured hard throughout the match, taking ten shots apiece, but WT's Lisha Jungmann won the battle in front of the net as she made six saves in 90:00 minutes of play.

In their last game of the regular season, the Lady Buffs fell just short against MSU, dropping a close 3-2 decision at The Pitch. The win Friday not only advances WTAMU to the tournament final but it also avenges the tough loss to the Mustangs.

The Championship game will be Sunday, Nov. 4, featuring West Texas A&M against regular season LSC Champion Central Oklahoma. Since the inception of the women's soccer program at WT in 1996, the Lady Buffs have made the LSC Tournament every year. This year marks the eighth Conference Championship appearance and WT has won the tournament title three times.
