COMMERCE, Texas - The West Texas A&M women's soccer team collected a 4-1 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce on Sunday afternoon with the help of two goals from leading-scorer junior Elisabeth Markussen. With the win, the Lady Buffs improved to 11-5 on the season and 5-4 in the Lone Star Conference.

Junior Danea Fontana and Kendal Kitchens tallied two assists apiece in the win.

Sophomore Miriam Dominguez scored first for WTAMU as she collected a bouncing ball on a breakaway pass from Fontana at the top of the box and fired a shot to the top center of the net.

TAMU-C equalized the match under a minute later, also on a breakaway, when Meagan Lasley sent her shot on the ground to the left corner of the goal. Melissa DoRemus got the assist in the 25th minute for the Lions.

Markussen regained the lead for WTAMU in the 31st minute as Fontana notched her second assist of the game. Markussen beat Lions' goalkeeper Jennifer Alvarado to put the Lady Buffs on top, 2-1.

Less than two minutes later, Markussen stretched WTAMU's lead as she beat Alvarado near side on the right side of the box off of a pass from Kitchens on the left side.

In the 54th minute, sophomore Kayla Sisco added an insurance goal for the Lady Buffs with assists from Kitchens and junior Samantha Calcote as WTAMU took a 4-1 lead.

In goal for WTAMU, sophomore Lisha Jungmann finished with seven saves an one goal against in 90:00 minutes of play.

West Texas A&M is slated to face Midwestern State in Wichita Falls on Oct. 26 in the women's final match of the regular season.
