Tied at 1-all at halftime, the West Texas A&M University women's soccer team erupted for three goals in the second half as the Lady Buffs kennelled the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, 4-1, Friday afternoon at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium in Lone Star Conference action. WTAMU won its sixth match in row, improving to 9-3-1 overall and 6-0 in LSC action, remaining atop the conference standing. That sets up a showdown with second-place University of Central Oklahoma in the Lady Buffs' final home match of the year on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Sunday will be Senior Day, as WTAMU will honor its three seniors: defender Misti Northcutt, midfielder Roxy Sides and forward Katie Henley. All three got into the scoring action in Friday's match.
Northcutt assisted on WTAMU's first goal of the match, hitting freshman forward Danae Fontana with a long pass, and Fontana hit the back of the net from 10 yards out for a 1-0 Lady Buff lead just 5:56 into the match.
SWOSU countered with a goal in the 12th minute, as Jamie Hilterbran scored her first goal of the season, taking a pass from Rachel Welch and shooting a sliding goal from 15 yards out to tie the score.
WTAMU applied continued pressure for the rest of the half, as the Lady Buffs outshot the Bulldogs 8-1 in the first half, but couldn't get the go-ahead goal and the teams went into halftime tied at 1.
Just 3:03 into the second half, Henley took a centering pass from junior forward Whitney McClain and shook the net for a 2-1 WTAMU advantage.
Less than four minutes later, freshman midfielder Elisabeth Markussen hit a streaking Sides on the right wing and Sides fired a rocket into the upper right V just a second into the 53rd minute.
Henley tallied the final goal of the match and her fifth of the season in the 85th minute with a sliding chip from 20 yards out after taking a feed from freshman defender Ashley Long.
WTAMU outshot SWOSU, 16-5, in the match.
After Sunday's home finale, the Lady Buffs wrap up the season on the road, traveling to Denton, Texas to face Texas Woman's University on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m., before concluding regular-season action on Sunday, Oct. 30 against Texas A&M University-Commerce at Commerce, Texas at Noon.
