West Texas A&M Women's Soccer Grabs Come-From-Behind Win
Oct. 12, 2007
CANYON, Texas - Sophomore Kayla Sisco and freshman Kirsten Wallace scored within two minutes of one another to give the West Texas A&M women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over the visiting Southwestern Oklahoma Bulldogs on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Buffs improve to 10-3 on the season, 4-2 in the Lone Star Conference. SWOSU dropped to 0-14 overall with a 0-7 conference mark. The Lady Buffs had a number of chances to score in the first half but could not convert and both teams went into halftime without a goal. Early in the second half, SWOSU earned a direct free kick from 22 yards in front of the goal and Jamie Hilterbran put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard with her goal to the left side of the net, just past senior goalkeeper Sarah Pipkin's reach. WTAMU pushed for the rest of the game and finally notched a goal in the 80th minute when Miriam Dominguez sent a corner kick to the far post and Sisco headed the ball past SWOSU keeper Becky Hilterbran. Sisco got an assist on Wallace's game-winning goal just 1:44 later; she dribbled up the field and sent the ball to sophomore Adi Stein at the far right side of the box, who one-timed it to Wallace in front of the net. Wallace scored her first goal of the season from the right side of the goal, sending the ball to the far post from two yards out to put WTAMU ahead, 2-1. Pipkin made her second start in goal and tallied two saves in 90:00 minutes of play to improve her record to 1-1. The Lady Buffs play their last home game of the regular season on Sunday, hosting Central Oklahoma at 3:00 p.m. UCO entered the weekend with an overall record of 10-3-1 and an unblemished 4-0 conference mark.
