CANYON, Texas - With eight minutes remaining in regulation, the West Texas A&M women's soccer team took control of the match with three goals in less than four minutes to secure the 4-1 victory in Lone Star Conference action over Northeastern State on Sunday.

The Lady Buffs were on the board first in the 36th minute on a goal by senior Sarit Shenar (Rehovot, Israel), whose first attempt was deflected by the goalkeeper. WTAMU would keep the lead until the 67:46 when Northeastern State tied the match at one.

The three goal rampage by the Lady Buffs started when senior Lindsay Sheffield (Amarillo, Texas), assisted freshman Kendal Kitchens (Lubbock, Texas) on her sixth goal of the year. A few moments later freshman Adi Stein (Desher, Israel) got into the action as she found the back of the net on feed from sophomore Samantha Calcote (Amarillo, Texas). Kitchens scored the final WTAMU goal in the 85th minute, from the foot of Stein - Kitchens now is third on the team in goals with seven.

Between the posts for the Lady Buffs was sophomore Sarah Pipkin (San Angelo, Texas), who made three saves in four chances. Northeastern State used two goalies, Sara Spencer, who allowed a goal and made three saves, while Patricia Davis allowed three goals and stopped three opportunities.

WTAMU had 20 shots in the match, and 10 shots on goal, while NSU had five shots and four made it on goal.

With the win, the Lady Buffs improve to 11-1-1 on the year and 3-1-1 in the LSC, Northeastern State goes to 4-8-3 and 2-4-0 in the conference. On Friday, Oct. 13, WTAMU will travel to Central Oklahoma for a 3 p.m. start.
