WTAMU Women's Soccer Shuts Out East Central 5-0 on Friday at Kimbrough Stadium

CANYON, Texas - On the strength of two senior Sarit Shenar (Rehovot, Israel) goals, the West Texas A&M women's soccer team were winners over Lone Star Conference foe East Central, 5-0 on Friday afternoon. It took the Lady Buffs until the 25th minute to score their first goal, but it did not take long for the following three. Within 14 minutes of each other, Shenar scored her second goal in the 33rd minute, sophomore Samantha Calcote (Amarillo, Texas) found the back of the net at 43:25 and the fourth goal of the day for WTAMU was an own goal by East Central in the 47th minute. However, the Lady Buffs were not done scoring; at 77:04 sophomore Danea Fontana (Camarillo, Calif.) headed a goal from the foot of freshman Kayla Sisco (Amarillo, Texas) - it was Fontana's first goal of the year. Overall for WTAMU, it out shot ECU 21-10, with 16 of the Lady Buff shots landing on goal, while the Tigers were held to five shots on goal. Sophomore Sarah Pipkin (San Angelo, Texas) made a start between the pipes for WTAMU, and made five saves in five chances. With the win the Lady Buffs move to 10-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the conference, while ECU goes to 2-10-1 and 0-4-1 in the LSC.WTAMU will be back on the field Sunday at 1 p.m., hosting LSC rival Northeastern State.
