Lady Buff Soccer Falls to East Central in Overtime

ADA, Okla. - West Texas A&M women's soccer jumped out to an early two-goal lead but eventually fell to conference foe East Central, 3-2, in overtime on Friday afternoon. Sophomores Kendal Kitchens and Kayla Sisco scored for WTAMU as the Lady Buffs fell to 8-3 on the season with a 2-2 conference mark.

Kitchens struck first for West Texas A&M, dribbling in from the right side and scoring from 15 yards out just 2:13 into the match. Sisco gave the Lady Buffs a 2-0 buffer in the 33rd minute when she headed in a cross from Brianna McMillian.

The Lady Tigers came out strong in the second half, drawing two penalty kicks and converting both to force overtime; Candace Baird scored in the 64th minute followed by Heather Martin's score in the 88th minute.

WTAMU pushed in the second half, peppering ECU goalkeeper Christie Sarginson with four shots, but could not find the winning goal.

Sydney Kromer notched the gamewinner for ECU at 96:57 when she fired a shot from 35 yards out on the right side that beat WTAMU goalkeeper Lisha Jungmann.

Jungmann finished with three saves in the match; ECU goalkeeping duties were split by Kelly Davis, who made one save and allowed two goals in the first half, and Sarginson, who made three saves in the rest of the game.

The Lady Buffs' continue conference play on Sunday in Tahlequah, Okla., as they face Northeastern State at 1 p.m.
