Lady Buffs Tie Texas Woman's, 1-1, Sunday
Oct. 5, 2003
The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team outshot Texas Woman's University, 17-9, Sunday, but gave up a late goal to force a 1-1 tie Sunday at Denton, Texas.
Freshman forward Sarit Shenar continues her scoring spree, as she netted the Lady Buffs' lone goal off a 10-yard shot from the left side of the box in the 22nd minute off an assist from sophomore defender Roxy Sides.
Shenar leads the team with eight goals in six games, and has scored a goal in three-straight games for WTAMU.
TWU tied the game in the 81st minute, on a goal from Julie Hosek with a 40-yard shot off a set piece following a WTAMU foul.
The Lady Buffs outshot the Pioneers, 17-9, and had eight corner kicks compared to zero for Texas Woman's, but couldn't get the ball in the net.
WTAMU is now 5-3-1 on the year, including 1-1-1 in LSC play, and leaves them one win shy of the program's 100th all-time win.
The Lady Buffs' next chance to reach that milestone will be on Friday, Oct. 10, as WTAMU hosts Oklahoma City in a doubleheader with the men's team, starting at 2 p.m. at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium, as part of WTAMU's Homecoming 2003 activities.
