WTAMU Women's Soccer Winning Streak Snapped in 2-2 Tie Against Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The No. 10 West Texas A&M women's soccer team's eight game winning streak ended in a 2-2 tie Thursday afternoon against Angelo State. Also, senior Sarit Shenar's (Rehovot, Israel) eight match consecutive goal scoring streak was snapped in the tie. Angelo State scored its first goal at 25:39 by Ashley Tatum, and the Rambelle's second goal was scored by Lauren Moore in the 29th minute. However, the Lady Buffs still out shot Angelo 7-5, while four of the WTAMU shots were on goal. In the second half, sophomore Elisabeth Markussen (Borkup, Denmark) scored her seventh goal of the season off of a corner kick assist by freshman Adi Stein (Desher, Israel) at 68:20. With just under four minutes remaining in regulation, freshman Kendal Kitchens (Lubbock, Texas) scored her fourth goal of the season to tie the game up. Shenar notched her team leading eighth assist on Kitchens' goal. Sophomore Sarah Pipkin (San Angelo, Texas) came in on relief for freshman Lisha Jungmann (San Antonio, Texas) after the break. Pipkin made six saves in 65 minutes of work, but as a team, WTAMU made three saves in the extra sessions, two of them coming in the final 10 minutes. Also, in the tie on Thursday, the three match losing streak in San Angelo was ended -- the last win for the Lady Buffs was 1998. WTAMU moves to 8-0-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in Lone Star Conference play, while Angelo State goes to 6-2-1 and 1-1-1 in LSC action. The next action for the Lady Buffs is Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Wichita Falls against Midwestern State.
