PORTALES, N.M. -- The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to zoom past the Zias of Eastern New Mexico University, 5-2, Wednesday at ENMU's Soccer Field at Portales, N.M. It was the Lone Star Conference opener for both teams.

The Lady Buffs won their second-straight match and third win in the last four matches, to improve to 3-2-1 overall and open 1-0 in LSC action. The Zias are now 5-4-0 overall and 0-1 LSC.

ENMU scored the match's first two goals, in the 14th and 35th minutes to take a 2-0 lead.

Senior forward Katie Henley put WTAMU on the board with a goal in the 42nd minute off an assist from junior forward Sarit Shenar to send the Lady Buffs to the halftime break down, 2-1.

The second half was all WTAMU, as freshman midfielder Samantha Calcote scored her first Lady Buff goal, netting a unassisted goal in the 46th minute.

Shenar tallied her first goal of the match in the 53rd minute, taking a pass from senior defender Roxy Sides.

Danae Fontana, a freshman forward, notched her first goal of her WTAMU career with a tap-in in the the 78th minute, and less than one minute later, Shenar capped the scoring in the 79th minute with an unassisted goal.

WTAMU outshot ENMU, 22-8, including 14-5 in the second half. For the match, the Lady Buffs had 11 shots on goal, while the Zias had four.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Anderson made two saves.

The Lady Buffs continue their season-long five-match road swing on Friday, heading to Austin, Texas, to take on St. Edward's University. WTAMU stays in south-central Texas to play University of Incarnate Word at San Antonio, Texas on Sunday, Sept. 26, barring Hurricane Rita.
