WTAMU Women's Soccer Stays Perfect on the Season a 4-1 Win Saturday

CANYON, Texas - Senior Sarit Shenar (Rehovot, Israel) scores her first hat trick of the season, and the No. 17 West Texas A&M women's soccer team was victorious over Eastern New Mexico 4-1 Saturday afternoon. The Lady Buffs and Zias were tied at zero until the 23rd minute when freshman Kendal Kitchens knocked in her third goal of the year - the goal was assisted by sophomore Elisabeth Markussen (Borkup, Denmark). In the second half, Shenar scored two of her three goals just in two minutes of each other. Her first goal was unassisted during the 46th minute, while her second goal was assisted by Kitchens at the 48th minute. The final goal by Shenar was knocked in on a free kick after she was taken down by Pamela Campbell, who was then given a red card. Freshman Lisha Jungmann (San Antonio, Texas) made one save in two chances, while her counterpart Stephanie Sanchez was made six saves on 10 opportunities. The Lady Buffs are now 8-0-0 on the season, and 1-0 in Lone Star Conference play, while Eastern New Mexico goes to 4-5-0 on the year and 0-2 in LSC action. WTAMU will be in action on Thursday, Sept. 21, at Angelo State.
