SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The No. 18 West Texas A&M women's soccer team now holds the school record for most wins to open a season at 7-0-0. The Lady Buffs defeated St. Mary's (Texas) 4-0 on a rain soaked field Monday afternoon.

Sophomore Elisabeth Markussen (Borkup, Denmark) scored the only goal in the first half, which is her sixth goal of the year. Markussen was given the ball by freshman Brianna McMillian (Amarillo, Texas), who now is second on the team in assists with four - McMillian later added another assist in the second half.

In the second half, the Lady Buffs got things started with a goal by freshman Kendal Kitchens (Lubbock, Texas), who was assisted by senior Sarit Shenar (Rehovot, Israel). Later in the second stanza, freshman Adi Stein (Desher, Israel) got into the action with her fourth goal of the year. The last goal of the afternoon was scored by Shenar on a free kick, which was her Lone Star Conference leading 11th goal.

The Lady Buffs will be back in action on Saturday Sept. 16, against Eastern New Mexico at 3 p.m.
