The West Texas A&M University Lady Buff women's soccer team fought off a pesky St. Mary's University squad and prevailed, 1-0, Friday afternoon at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.

Junior forward Sarit Shenar tallied WTAMU's lone goal, ending nearly a 170-minute scoring drought, as the Lady Buffs were shut out, 2-0, to New Mexico Higlands University last Sunday.

WTAMU outshot St. Mary's, 10-5, as Lady Buff sophomore keeper Sarah Anderson posted two saves.

Shenar netted her fourth goal of the season in the 79th minute, taking a nice pass from freshman midfielder Elisabeth Markussen and beating Rattler keeper Lily Cano.

With the win, WTAMU evens its record at 2-2-1. The Lady Buffs return to action in their Lone Star Conference opener at Portales, N.M. on Sept. 21 against border-rival Eastern New Mexico University, the first of five road matches. WTAMU returns to the friendly confines of Kimbrough on Oct. 7, hosting Midwestern State University.
