The West Texas A&M University women's soccer team defeated St. Mary's University, 2-0, Sunday at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.

Senior midfielder Ashleigh Scott had a header off a free kick from freshman defender Cassie Burke in the 14th minute to stake WTAMU to a 1-0 lead. Freshman forward Dania Lopez added an insurance goal in the 84th minute off an assist from freshman midfielder Aubrey Findley.

The Lady Buffs outshot the Rattlers 17-10 in the match.

Junior goalkeeper Jamie Griffis recorded five saves, while St. Mary's Jennifer O'Conner logged nine saves.

WTAMU improves to 2-1-0 on the season, while St. Mary's falls to 1-2-0.

The Lady Buffs return to action on Sept. 19, hosting Southwestern Oklahoma in their Lone Star Conference opener at 7 p.m. at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium.
