CANYON, Texas - In their return to their on-campus site, The Pitch, West Texas A&M women's soccer started off the 2007 season with a 2-0 victory over New Mexico Highlands on Friday in Canyon, Texas. The Lady Buff goals came from freshman Cassie Hiser and sophomore Adi Stein, who both scored in the second half of the match.

Hiser broke the scoreless tie when she headed the ball into the upper right corner of the goal 18:48 into the second half. Miriam Dominguez got the assist.

WTAMU's second goal came with 7:51 left in the game. Dominguez sent a corner kick sailing into the box which pulled the NMHU goalie off the line. The ball was deflected to Stein who found the back of the open net from two yards out.

Sophomore Lisha Jungmann started in goal and played the entire game, making seven saves.

WTAMU took 24 total shots, 16 of which were on goal. Hiser and Stein had three apiece while Dominguez took two.

The Lady Buffs' next game will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. when they face Adams State.
