Lady Buffs Stand 10th After NCAA Third-Round Action
May 15, 2009 FINDLAY, Ohio – The West Texas A&M women’s golf team remains 10th among team scoring at the end of Friday’s second and third rounds of competition at the 2009 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships, being held at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio. The teams played 36 holes on Friday, as Thursday’s second round was postponed due to rain. After shooting a first-round score 329, the Lady Buffs came back with a second and third-round scores of 326 and 329 for a three-round total of 984 on the par-72, 6,219-yard Findlay CC course. WT stands 61 strokes behind team leader Nova Southeastern (314-302-307=923) and five strokes behind their closest competition, Concordia St. Paul (315-323-334=972) and Upper Iowa (321-329-322=972), who are each tied for eighth place. Mollie Peterson (junior, Texico, N.M.) leads Lady Buff scorers, having shot 81-78-81=240 over the first two rounds to stand in a tie for 31st, individually. Other Lady Buff individuals include Hammerli Sriyai (freshman, Bangkok, Thailand) is tied for 47th with rounds of 81-88-79=248, Lacy Torbert (senior, Hereford, Texas) is in a tie for 53rd after shooting 85-83-83=251. Teammate Sara Coe (freshman, Amarillo, Texas) stands tied for 55th after carding three-round scores of 82-84-86=252, while Whitney Osborne (junior, Amarillo, Texas) lies in 65th after shooting two-round scores of 91-81-88=260. Univ. of Indianapolis’ Lindsay McBride, who was second after the first round of play, tops the leaderboard with scores of 74-75-72=221. The Greyhounds stand second among team scoring. Nova Southeastern’s Sandra Changkija is four strokes back, in second, following rounds of 76-74-57=225.
Final round action in the 2009 NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships will be played Saturday. |
