Lady Buffs Second After First Round at Tarleton Invitational

GRANBURY, Texas – The West Texas A&M women’s golf team concluded the first round of play at the Tarleton State Coca-Cola Classic in a tie for second. The event, hosted by Tarleton State, is being played April 13-14 at the Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury, Texas. The Lady Buffs shot a first-day score of 335 and are tied with the host TexAnns in second place on the par 72, 6057-yard course and are just four strokes behind first-place St. Edwards (331). Leading the Lady Buffs is Amanda Davidson (freshman, Ankeny, Iowa), who shot an 82, including a tourney-low 37 on the back nine, to tie for 12th, individually. Hammerli Sriyai (freshman, Bangkok, Thailand) carded an 84 and is tied for 21st, individually, along with teammate Mollie Peterson (junior, Texico, N.M.), Lacy Torbert (senior, Hereford, Texas) shot an 85, as did teammate Whitney Osborne (junior, Amarillo, Texas), to tie for 24th. Also competing are Sara Coe (freshman, Amarillo, Texas) and Stephanie Boldger (senior, Houston, Texas) who are tied for 18th place after carding an 83 on the first day. Dallas Baptist’s Heather Wilbur (84) finished the first round in first place, while Nebraska-Omaha’s Danielle Suponchick (78) holds down second place and St. Edwards’ Emily Kvinta (79) is in third. The tournament concludes today with second-round action continues today at the Harbor Lakes Golf Club.
