CANYON, Texas - Led by freshman Mollie Peterson's second round 78 on Tuesday, the West Texas A&M women's golf team finished in fifth place with final score of 674 at the Lady Buff Stampede on the Tascosa Country Club course. WTAMU shaved 13 strokes off of its first day score to jump into fifth overall, which was 38 behind the winner, Central Oklahoma.

Peterson, who shot an 85 on the first day cut seven strokes off of her day two total to help lead the Lady Buffs with a 163, and a finish in 10th place. Following the Texico, N.M., native was Beth Ann Nussbaum, who ended with an 82 on the second day to go home with a 169, which was good for a tie at 19th.

Finishing just a shot behind Nussbaum was Whitney Osborne, who had two-day total of 170 and a second round score of 84. In a tie for 25th place was Kaylee Zaiontz, who ended her afternoon with an 87 and final total of 172. Rounding out the Lady Buff golfers was Krista Williams, who shot a 96 on day two, which was four better than her previous day to finish with a 196.

The next action for WTAMU will be on April 15 at the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
