Results

Western New Mexico University has a 17-stroke lead after the first day of play at the West Texas A&M University Subway Invitational at Tascosa Country Club at Amarillo, Texas. WNMU's Tina Blackford is the individual leader after firing a 3-over 75. WTAMU is in third-place, led by Lady Buff junior Beth Ann Nussbaum sitting in a tie for sixth.

The University of Central Oklahoma is second with 328, followed by West Texas A&M (332), Tarleton State University (336) and Texas A&M University-Commerce (337) to round out the top five. Cameron University is sixth with a 348, while Southwestern Oklahoma State University is seventh (357), Montana State University-Billings sits at eighth (374), followed by University of Nebraska-Kearney (377) and Oklahoma Panhandle State University rounds out the 10-team field (415).

Blackford holds a one-stroke lead over teammate Katharine Dorris and UCO's Emily Kirk, who are tied for second with 76's. Tarleton State's Cathryn Uselton and UCO's Ashley Kelley are tied for fourth with 78's. A three-way tie for sixth is forged between Adi Attaway of TAMU-Commerce, Kim Cammer of WNMU and WTAMU junior Beth Ann Nussbaum with 79's. Lady Buff freshman Brittyne Lewis and WNMU's Heather Dorris fired 81's and are tied for ninth to complete the top 10.

Sophomore Madison Easley is tied for 18th with an 85, while Stephanie Marufo is tied for 41st with a 93.

Tuesday's final 18-hole round tees off at 8:30 a.m.
