Lady Buff Golf Posts 15th Place Finish at Grand Canyon Women's Invitational

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The West Texas A&M University women's golf team earned a 15th place finish at the Grand Canyon Women's Invitational at Goodyear, Ariz., with a team score of 343 on Tuesday, March 27, after shooting 326 in the opening round on Monday, Mar. 26. The Lady Buffs scored a combined 669, 55 strokes behind tournament winners Tarleton State. Senior Beth Ann Nussbaum and freshman Mollie Peterson led WTAMU, tying for 47th place with a combined score of 165. Nussbaum shot 77 in the first round and 87 in the second while Peterson tallied an 81 in the first round and 83 in the second. Whitney Osborne finished tied for 51 st shooting a consistent 83 to finish with a score of 166, while freshman Kaylee Zaiontz took the 80th spot with a 175 (85, 90). Sophomore Krista Williams rounded out the Lady Buff finishers scoring a 199, including a 98 in the first round and 101 in the second to tie for 92 nd place. The Lady Buffs will return to action on Monday, April 2, for the WTAMU Subway Invitational, which will be played at Tascosa Country Club.
