Lady Buffs Finish 15th At St. Mary's Lady Rattler Classic

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- The West Texas A&M University women's golf team began spring action with a 15th-place finish at the Lady Rattler Hill Country Classic, hosted by St. Mary's University at the Golf Club of Texas at San Antonio, Texas.
WTAMU carded a combined 702, firing a 355 Sunday after scoring a 347 Saturday. Western Washington University took top team honors with a combined 605, tallying a tournament-low 298 Sunday.
Tonya Choate of Drury University won individual medalist honors with a 148 (75-73).
The Lady Buffs were led by sophomore Madison Easley with a 51st-place finish, carding a 170 (81-89), one stroke ahead of freshman teammate Brittyne Lewis with a 171 (84-87), good for a tie for 52nd. Junior Beth Ann Nussbaum was another stroke back with a 172 (89-83) to tie for 55th. Freshman Stephanie Marufo carded a 189 (93-96) to place 80th, and fellow freshman Korissa Cheek was tied for 89th with a 203 (103-100).
WTAMU heads to Monteray Bay, Calif., to compete in the California State Invitational at Bayonet Golf Course, March 6-7.
The Lady Buffs host the WTAMU/Subway Invitational April 3-4 at Amarillo, Texas.
