CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M Equestrian team hosted three Western point shows for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) at the WTAMU Horse Center during the weekend of Oct. 24. Eight teams across the country competed in the weekend competition, but it was the Lady Buffs who came out on top overall, placing first in two of the three shows.

The weekend was divided into three different shows, with two taking place on Saturday and the final show taking place on Sunday. The Equestrian team won the first and third show and clinched second in the second show.

Lady Buffs Christa Forsberg (SO, Longmont, Colo.) and Karissa Milu (Von Mory, Texas) qualified for the Western Region Championship that will be held March 2010. Forsberg qualified for the championship due to her performance in Advanced Horsemanship, and Milu also impressed the judges with her skills in the Novice Horsemanship competition.

Rachel Olsen (SR, Alexis, Ill.) was the High Point Rider in the first show. Errolynne Franck (SR, Ephrasta, Wash.) was the High Point Rider in the second show where two of her teammates, Olson and Ryan Eberlein (SR, Coos Bay, Oregon), also tied for Reserve High Point Rider. In the third show, Andrea Spencer (SR, Clinton, Ill.) won Reserve High Point Rider.

Up next, the Lady Buffs host a 3-Hunt Seat weekend competition at the WTAMU Horse Center in Canyon, Texas Nov. 20 through Nov. 22.
