Lady Buff Riders At New Mexico State Western Show
Nov. 1, 2005
The West Texas A&M University women's equestrian riders head to Las Cruces, N.M. for their second show of the year. New Mexico State University will be hosting the first two western shows of the season after the last two English shows on Oct. 1-2 at Denver University were a success for the Lady Buff riders.
Senior novice rider Meghan Mackey is expected to do well as she enters her final season riding with the Lady Buffs. Krissy Mailman, a sophomore who competed in her first Intercollegiate Horse Show Association hunter show and took first place, will be competing in the Advanced Division this weekend. Freshman open riders Sandy Ramirez and Savannah Wise anticipate being in the ribbons this weekend in their debut as Lady Buff riders.
After Rebekah Bachman stepped down as head coach of the Equestrian team, Taylor Moss has taken the reins. Moss is embarking into a new region with a relatively new and young team, as 10 riders from last season graduated.
By moving into Region 1, the Lady Buff riders will have new competition. There will be a total of 11 teams including six Division I schools highlighted by Colorado State University, United States Air Force Academy, and New Mexico State University.
The next competition for the Lady Buff riders is at home on Nov.19, for two English shows. Following the November show, the Lady Buff riders will have a break and return to action Feb. 11 at home for two Western Shows.
