LUBBOCK, Texas - The West Texas A&M Equestrian Team is proud to announce that Western Regular Season has come to an end and oh what an end it was!

 

As a team the WTAMU has won the Zone 7 Region 1 Western Championship and will now be competing at the IHSA Western Regional Championships which will be hosted here at WT on March 28th and 29th.  This is the first leg of returning to the IHSA National Championship in May.  Last year WT was 6th in the nation and just a few years ago was the Western national champions.  We are very excited about the post season and our chances at these upcoming events.

 

To go along with this team win, Senior Eq. Industry major Shannon Lee was named the high point rider for the region and will compete at Nationals for the AQHA Cup.

 


 

 

On Sunday, March 2nd, Regional Championships for individuals were held at Texas Tech University and the girls from WT made a clean sweep!  With grils competing in every class, WT brought home every Regional Championship award!  With 11 girls competing, 8 will continue on the compete at Semi-Finals as individuals.  The following are all the placings for the WT girls in their respective classes.  Only the Champion and Res. Champion can move on to Semi-Finals.
