Lady Buffs Equestrian Team Receive High Point Team

CANYON, Texas - The Lady Buffs Equestrian team attended two Hunt Seat Intercollegiate Horse shows on Feb. 1 hosted by Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Ten teams from across the states of Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana competed throughout the day on Sunday. The Lady Buffs received the award for high point team in both shows. Individually, Rebecca Hart (junior, Arlington, Texas) won high point rider in the first show. During the second show Kyra Briscoe (freshman, Seminole, Texas) tied with team captain, Natalie Baker (sophomore, Manchaca, Texas) for the honor of high point rider. The Lady Buffs also qualified three more individual riders for the Hunt Seat Region Championship; sophomores Natalie Baker in Novice Fences, Katie Williams in Open Equitation and Stephanie Hallgren in Intermediate Fences. The Lady Buffs entered the weekend in third place in points in the Hunt Seat Region, closely following Louisiana State University and Texas Tech University by a margin of 10 points. After finishing two successful shows the Lady Buffs are now ranked second in overall points, and are now trailing Louisiana State University by only two points. The hunt seat team only has one competition weekend remaining, Feb. 28, 2009 at the Horse Center in Canyon, Texas.
