Equestrian Team Shines in Hunt Seat Shows

CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M Equestrian team hosted three Hunt Seat point shows for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) at the WTAMU Horse Center during the weekend of Nov. 20. Twelve teams across the country competed in the weekend competition. West Texas A&M University won two of the three competitions.

The shows were divided into three days. WTAMU competed against Louisiana State University, Tulane University, University of Oklahoma, Trinity University, Rice University, Texas Tech University, North Central Texas College, Stephen F. Austin State University, Southern Nazarene University and Texas State University. WT Equestrians won the first two shows and received reserve for the third show.

There were many personal successes for the Lady Buffs. Some of which include, Christa Forsberg (CO) pointed up from Beginner Walk Trot Canter to Advanced Walk Trot Canter; and Rebecca Hart (TX) qualified for the region championship in Novice flat and fences. Amy Mitchem (WA) qualified for the region championship in Intermediate flat and fences, and Ryan Eberlein (OR) qualified for region championship in novice flat.

WT will continue their season on February 6 & 7 as they travel to San Antonio, Texas.
