This past Saturday, the West Texas A&M University Lady Buff equestrian team hosted its first home show of the season with a pair of English shows. With their debut at home the ladies placed second as a team for both shows, along with many individual successes.

The first show started out rocky but the ladies pulled through and finished strong. Junior intermediate rider, JoAnna Pazderny, and sophomore novice flat rider, Catherine Brown, both placed second in their flat classes. In the Walk-Trot-Canter class, Stephanie James, junior, clinched the number one spot and Cydney Wike, sophomore, followed in second place.

Saturday afternoon the WTAMU Lady Riders pushed on for the second show and placed first or second in six out of the eight classes they competed in. Starting out Meghan Mackey, senior open rider, was second place in her open fences class. Following her success freshman open rider, Whitney Fouts nabbed first place in her open flat class. Sophomore rider Cara Scogin rode well to place second in her Intermediate flat class. Catherine Brown, sophomore novice rider, and Stefanie Gilbert, sophomore Walk-Trot-Canter rider, both received top honors winning their classes putting the WTAMU Equestrian second place at the end of the day.

After the Christmas break the Lady Buff Riders will be back for two western shows on February 25 and 26 at New Mexico State University.
